Mite Control
Exzolt (Fluralaner)
Overview
Exzolt (fluralaner) is a systemic parasiticide for the treatment and control of Poultry Red Mite (Dermanyssus gallinae) and Northern Fowl Mite (Ornithonyssus sylviarum) infestation in pullets, breeders and layer hens. Rather than treating the shed environment, Exzolt treats the bird — administered via drinking water, it circulates systemically so any mite that feeds on a treated bird is killed. Efficacy against Poultry Red Mite begins within 4 hours of exposure, and the two-dose regimen (7 days apart) spans at least two full mite life cycles, massively reducing mite populations and interrupting reproduction.
Dosage & Application
- Dose: 0.5mg fluralaner per kg body weight (0.05mL Exzolt/kg BW), administered twice via drinking water, 7 days apart
- The full 2-dose course must be administered for a complete therapeutic effect
- If a further course is needed, allow at least 3 months between courses
- Formula: mL of product per treatment day = total body weight (kg) of birds to be treated × 0.05mL
Key Points
- 99%+ elimination of Poultry Red Mite and Northern Fowl Mite populations, often exceeding 95% efficacy by day 6 and 99% by day 14
- Fast start of kill — within 4 hours for Poultry Red Mite feeding on treated birds
- Active against mite strains resistant to classical acaricides (organophosphates, pyrethroids, carbamates)
- Safe and well tolerated across all classes of chickens, even at 5× the recommended dose for 3× the recommended duration
- Positive impacts observed on laying rate, fertility and hatchability in field studies, resulting from relief of mite burden
